With boat on sea - 18-year-old drowned in Spremberg dam

An 18-year-old is believed to have drowned in the Spremberg dam in Neuhausen/Spree (Landkreis Spree-Neisse), according to initial findings by the police. The young man had gone fishing with friends in a tent camp and had taken a boat out on the lake, as the police directorate Süd reported.

A friend of the 18-year-old saw the boat on the lake around 0.40 am in the night and went out to investigate. There, he found the 18-year-old with his head underwater and brought him to shore. Revival attempts were unsuccessful. The police assume that he drowned.

The incident occurred in the District Spree-Neiße, specifically near the town of Neuhausen/Spree, which is known for its dam in Spremberg. The emergency services were immediately notified due to the circumstances. Despite the swift actions of the friend and the local authorities, unfortunate events led to the young man's tragic demise in the shallow waters of the Spree lake.
