- Zwönitz encounters vehicle inferno, authorities suspect intentional igniting
authorities are investigating potential arson in the incineration of a vehicle in Zwönitz, located within the Erzgebirgskreis. On a recent Monday evening, flames engulfed the front portion of a car parked close to a preschool, according to a police spokesperson. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The fire department successfully managed to put out the blaze.
At present, no indications of a political motive have surfaced, the police stated. However, a similar occurrence took place approximately seven days prior. During that incident, a different car was set ablaze in close proximity, and not one but two additional vehicles nearby suffered damage as well.
The car that was involved in the incident is currently being examined by the investigators. Due to the ongoing arson investigation, the affected car has been temporarily relocated from its usual parking spot.
