To have the name proposals make it into the closer selection, there are some tips. "It's an open secret that I particularly like short, concise names with a Berlin connection," shared Zoo and Animal Park Director Andreas Kniereim. To date, there have been numerous inquiries about the name of the offspring - this is also due to its popularity in social networks. The video of the little hippopotamus' first bath on the Tiktok channel has reportedly reached 6.7 million views according to the zoo.

The hippopotamus girl and her mother continue to spend their time in a secluded area of the hippopotamus house. It is expected that zoo visitors will be able to observe the two at the outdoor enclosure around the end of July. The natural habitat of dwarf hippos is in the rainforests of West Africa. There are reportedly fewer than 2500 mature individuals left in the wild - a trend that is decreasing.

Visitors eagerly anticipate the day when they can see the hippopotamus mother and her offspring at the Berlin Zoological Garden's outdoor enclosure.
