ZDF shoots documentary about Franz and Moritz Wagner

In the summer, Franz and Moritz Wagner caused a sensation at the Basketball World Cup. Now the brothers have been given a special honor.

Basketball world champion - ZDF shoots documentary about Franz and Moritz Wagner

The rapid sporting rise of basketball world champions Franz and Moritz Wagner is being filmed. ZDF is currently filming a four-part documentary series about the brothers from Berlin, in which the beginnings of Franz and Moritz Wagner's careers in Berlin, their first steps in the NBA, the path to the World Championship title for Germany and through the current NBA season to next year's Olympic Games in Paris will be highlighted.

A camera team was already present at the World Championships in Asia this summer. Filming is currently underway in the USA, where the Wagner brothers play for the Orlando Magic in the NBA.

"In the big sports year 2024, we are increasingly offering documentaries about impressive athletes on TV and in the ZDF media library. The new project with the basketball brothers from Berlin, who are successful professionals in the USA, promises to provide just as exciting an insight into the NBA as it does into German basketball," said ZDF Editor-in-Chief Bettina Schausten.

"We are delighted to be able to give an insight into our everyday lives and our lives as professional basketball players. Basketball has given us a lot and we would like it to become even more popular in Germany. The documentary series is a great opportunity to do this," said Franz Wagner.

Four 45-minute episodes are planned. Broadcast is planned for the second half of 2024.
