Illegal Acts - Youth group in Heide faces trial
A group of five individuals, consisting of four teenagers aged between 14 and 17 and an adult, have been in the Meldorf District Court since Tuesday, handling a string of incidents occurring around the Heide railway station square. To maintain privacy during the proceedings, the public was barred from entering, as confirmed by a court representative. The trial is anticipated to last until July.
These individuals are being accused by the prosecutor's office of committing serious extortion, robbery, and inflicting severe physical harm. However, since they are minors, the specifics of the offenses have not been disclosed.
The investigation procedures were initiated by the prosecutor's office in March, when the four suspects were already held in pre-trial detention. The group is suspected of committing multiple crimes in Heide, primarily around the railway station square.
Notably, the Meldorf District Court recently sentenced a 15-year-old to a warning for two instances of dangerous bodily harm and other misdemeanors. The boy was generally helpful and reflective during the court hearings, leading to a four-month-long supervision and mentoring by the youth welfare office following the arrest.
Heide has faced issues with juvenile delinquency in the past. In an alarming event last year, a group of girls aged roughly 13 to 16 were said to have beaten and maltreated a 13-year-old, with the incidents allegedly captured on a smartphone.
