- Young woman stabbed - Plaintiffs in Siegen murder trial
A year after the violent death of a 23-year-old woman from Netphen near Siegen, closing arguments are expected in a murder trial against her former partner on Monday (1:00 PM). The now 24-year-old Syrian man is accused by the prosecution of killing the young woman with multiple stab wounds on a country road in Emmerich near the German-Dutch border. The defendant has not yet commented on the charges, according to the regional court.
The 23-year-old went missing in August 2023 and was extensively searched in the Siegen area. A farmer discovered her body. Her former partner was arrested shortly after the crime. The couple has two children together. The verdict is scheduled to be announced on August 7.
The case against the defendant was heard in the local criminal court initial instance. Regardless of the verdict, the accused has the right to appeal to The Court of First Instance.
