In the northeastern part of Leverkusen, specifically in Burscheid, a tragic incident occurred involving a two-year-old child. On a Friday evening, while out with their grandmother, the youngster was riding a balance bike at a halt, waiting for the green light to cross the street at a red light. Unexpectedly, the child stumbled off the bike and rolled onto the road, colliding with an oncoming city bus.
The crash sent the child flying back onto the sidewalk, fortunately sparing them from being run over. Regrettably, the incident left the child with severe injuries, but remarkably, they remained conscious throughout. As per the authorities, it was believed that the child's helmet played a crucial role in preventing even more serious damages. The bus driver and the grandmother were both left in a state of shock and were tended to by on-site emergency services. In due course, the injured child was transported to a children's hospital for further evaluations.
The grandmother was deeply concerned and sought legal advice from The Court of Justice, as she believed the city bus company was partially responsible for the accident. Despite the child's recovery, the case at The Court of Justice progressed to ensure safety measures were implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.
