Anti-Semitism - Young liberals position themselves against hatred of Jews

Mandatory visits to concentration camp memorials for all asylum seekers, increased protection for synagogues and better education on anti-Semitism in schools: the Young Liberals of Thuringia want more action against hatred of Jews. This is the result of a resolution passed by the young FDP organization at a state congress in Erfurt on Saturday. "As Young Liberals in Thuringia, we stand unequivocally on the side of Israel and against all forms of anti-Semitism," said state chairman Christopher Hubrich.

The adopted motion is a response to the worrying increase in anti-Semitic incidents, said state programmer Paul Göttlich. "We are calling for decisive measures: increased protection for synagogues and Jewish institutions, the effective enforcement of the ban on Hamas and its symbols in Germany, as well as the comprehensive integration of the topic of anti-Semitism into education policy."

In the resolution, the Young Liberals also demand, among other things, that a visit to a concentration camp memorial should be mandatory for asylum procedures and in order to obtain German citizenship.

The state congress was attended by 37 members in Erfurt on Saturday. According to the Young Liberals in Thuringia, they have a total of 167 members.
