Young girl tragically dies in Berlin collision; driver's legal ruling remains unchanged

After over two years from an accidental death of an 11-year-old girl in Berlin-Marzahn, the initial verdict against a 62-year-old driver stands. On a recent court day, the district court denied both the prosecution and defense's appeals, implying that the man's previously issued nine-month...

A fellow ran over a kid on Landsberger Allee back in April 2022. The kid took a severe knock to the head and kicked the bucket a few days later at the hospital. A bunch of onlookers, including the kid's mom, shared their testimonies in the appeal trial, stating that the traffic light was red for the driver. An expert chimed in, claiming the guy was cruising at around 65 km/h and had been staring at a red light for 24 seconds before crossing the intersection.

The dude showed blind disregard for traffic rules since he ran a red light, as per Judge Andrea Farivar Meemar's verdict. However, she couldn't dig up any concrete proof of malice. The deceased kid's pops, who took part in the trial as a codefendant, spilled:

"This ain't road rage," Judge Andrea Farivar Meemar opined. Instead, it was about brief, slip-ups, which can happen to anyone. Yet, the grief of the parents is beyond measure, and it's justifiable that intense feelings are in the air, Meemar added.

The defendant, with his legal eagle reading out his statement at the trial's onset, claimed he thought the traffic light was green. He was rollin' with his grandkid at the time, had no pressing engagements. "I ain't a hothead," the guy admitted. Every day since the accident, he's found himself tormented, wondering how it all went down.

The defendant surrendered his driver's permit post-haste after the collision. Once this judgment becomes legally binding, a six-month timeframe kicks in during which the convicted can petition for a new driver's permit.

The tragic event occurred on Landsberger Allee in April 2022, where an accident resulted in the death of an eleven-year-old girl. The driver was charged in a local court, but the verdict remained unchanged, with the judge citing a lack of concrete proof of malice. Despite the verdict, the girl's mother, along with other witnesses, testified that the traffic light was red when the accident occurred. The defendant, who was driving his car and had his grandkid in the car at the time, claimed he thought the traffic light was green. Following the accident, the defendant voluntarily surrendered his driver's permit and will have a chance to petition for a new permit after six months, provided the judgment becomes legally binding.
