Wrong-way driver causes two-vehicle crash

A 71-year-old drives onto the highway the wrong way. Another driver has to swerve and collides with a tractor-trailer. The elderly person continues driving.

- Wrong-way driver causes two-vehicle crash

A 71-year-old wrong-way driver caused an accident on the A9 near Denkendorf (Eichstätt district). A 59-year-old driver was lightly injured, according to police, as he swerved to avoid the senior's car.

The car of the man collided with a tractor-trailer and then hit the median barrier. The tractor-trailer slid into the grass median and also hit the barrier.

The car of the 71-year-old did not collide with any other vehicle. The senior remained uninjured and continued driving slowly until he was stopped by the police. He appeared confused, according to police. His driver's license was confiscated.

The removal of the damaged car and tractor-trailer took several hours. The police estimated the damage at 150,000 euros.

The 71-year-old's car avoided colliding with other vehicles during the accident. Despite the incident, he continued driving his vehicle until stopped by the police.
