Writer Noll is an honorary citizen of Weinheim
Crime writer Ingrid Noll has been an honorary citizen of her home town of Weinheim (Rhine-Neckar district) since Sunday. This was announced by the town council. The local council had already decided unanimously on July 12 of this year to confer this honorary citizenship. The guests of honor also included the President of the State Office of Criminal Investigation, Andreas Stenger. This is fitting, as Noll is an honorary chief inspector of the Mannheim police force.
Her debut novel "Der Hahn ist tot" was published in 1991 and was an immediate success. To date, 21 books have been published. The 88-year-old is considered one of the most successful German crime writers of the present day. Her books have been translated into 27 languages and some have been made into films with prominent actors. Many of Noll's novels are set in the Rhine-Neckar region, for example in Heidelberg, Mannheim or Ladenburg, and in her home town of Weinheim.
Noll has been an ambassador for Weinheim since February 2020, said Lord Mayor Manuel Just. Since November 2021, there has been an "Ingrid Noll Trail" to the city's sights. At 13 stations in the city center, visitors can use a QR code on their cell phone to listen to the voice of Ingrid Noll, who guides them from place to place with her tongue-in-cheek, subtle humor.
The recognition of Ingrid Noll's literary contributions extends beyond her home town, as her works have been translated into 27 languages. As an honorary citizen of Weinheim, Noll continues to promote her hometown, with an "Ingrid Noll Trail" offering a humorous guided tour of the city's landmarks.
