Electric - World War II bomb successfully detonated near Tesla plant
A World War bomb in the vicinity of the Tesla Works in Grünheide was controlled exploded on Saturday. The restriction around the site has been lifted, said the leader of the Grünheide Order Office, Nico Bauermeister, in the afternoon to the German Press Agency. All residents and neighbors as well as the employees of the affected companies could return. The 250 kilogram bomb was reported to the community Grünheide on Wednesday by the demilitarization service. It was considered not transportable and had to be brought to explosion.
For the explosion, several industrial areas were evacuated, which were located nearby. Parts of the Tesla Works were also affected. However, according to a spokesperson for the company, production was not taking place at the weekend anyway.
The bomb find also had no effects on the nearby Tesla Protest Camp, which is located in the same forest. Since the end of February, environmental activists with a small settlement of tree houses and tents have been protesting in this forest section against the expansion of the Tesla site.
