500-pound bomb - World War II bomb found in Hamburg-Heimfeld

In a harbor basin in Hamburg-Heimfeld, a bomb from the Second World War was found on a Thursday. It was a 500-pound English-made bomb, said a fire department spokesperson. The magnet fuse has been detected and the bomb disposal team is on site. A exclusion zone with a radius of 300 meters has already been declared, which is not to be entered. Since it is a harbor area, there is no one living there, the spokesperson said. The airspace above the discovery site has been closed up to a height of 1000 meters.

The discovery of the bomb has prompted concerns about potential emergency situations. The consequences of not properly addressing this war relic could have severe implications, not just for Hamburg, but for the entire region.
