World War II bomb defused in Stuttgart
An unexploded bomb from the Second World War has been defused in Stuttgart. All closures were lifted at midday on Sunday and people were allowed back into their apartments and houses, as the police announced on X (formerly Twitter).
Sunday morning began with an evacuation operation for around 1900 residents, which lasted until midday. Public transport was suspended in the area. The bomb from the Second World War was discovered during exploratory work in fields between the Stuttgart district of Steinhaldenfeld and Fellbach-Schmiden at a depth of around three meters.
The evacuation operation was a necessary measure due to the emergencies posed by the unexploded bomb. The consequences of such war remnants can still have significant impacts on modern-day life.
