Following the discovery of a World War II bomb on the Friesenheimer Island in Mannheim, several buildings near the site cannot be evacuated. Residential buildings and parts of an industrial site are affected, as the city announced.

The wartime relic is to be removed and detonated in a controlled manner. According to experts, a safety radius of 150 meters must be maintained for this purpose. The bomb was discovered during construction work and is partially embedded in concrete.

Due to the impending bomb detonation, all non-essential activities within the 150-meter radius have been suspended, declaring an emergency situation. In the event of any unexpected developments, emergency response teams are on standby.
