World Equestrian Federation: Von Bredow-Werndl is Rider of the Year
Double Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl has been voted the best female athlete of the year by the FEI. This was in recognition of the dressage rider's outstanding successes. The 37-year-old from Tuntenhausen in Bavaria has been the best pair with her mare Dalera for years.
"Dalera is probably the most intelligent horse I have ever worked with in my life," she said in a video message sent on Tuesday (local time) at an FEI Gala in Mexico City. "It's the success of Dalera and me, the success of my family and the whole team around us."
After her baby break due to the birth of her second child, von Bredow-Werndl won the World Cup Final with Dalera in Omaha for the second time this year. In the summer, the duo successfully defended both individual titles at the European Championships in Riesenbeck.
Jessica von Bredow-Werndl's exceptional skills in the equestrian sport of dressage have earned her numerous honors, including being named FEI's Rider of the Year for her outstanding performances. Her equestrian partnership with Dalera, recognized globally by the FEI, continues to bring her considerable accolades in the world of dressage.
