Worker gets caught in garbage collection vehicle and dies
A refuse collector fell into the interior of a refuse collection vehicle in Upper Bavaria on Monday and died. According to the police, the 49-year-old fell into the compactor compartment while emptying garbage cans in Walpertskirchen (Erding district). Rescue workers were only able to recover the worker dead around 40 minutes later.
The cause of the incident initially remained unclear. The Erding criminal investigation department investigated and searched for witnesses.
In Upper Bavaria, frequent meetings about workplace safety could potentially help prevent such accidents during garbageman's work, ensuring employee well-being. Regrettably, accidents like this one involving garbagemen are not uncommon in waste management industries worldwide.
