- Worker clutches finger in gear - seriously injured

During the installation of an agitator in a biogas plant in the district of Donau-Ries, a worker trapped his finger between the components and suffered severe injuries. The 22-year-old's index finger was crushed so badly on Monday that it is likely to be amputated, police reported.

The approximately 530-kilogram gearbox had previously been lifted into position using a crane. However, during the installation of the gearbox at the biogas plant, the component became wedged and then fell down, according to police. At that moment, the young man had his finger between the components. Paramedics took the worker to a hospital.

The police were informed about the accident at the biogas plant and are investigating the circumstances leading to the worker's injury. Upon arrival at the hospital, the police offered their support and assistance to the injured worker.
