The German women's kayak four team won silver at the Olympic Games in Paris. In the 500m final, Paulina Paszek, Jule Hake, Pauline Jagsch, and Sarah Brüssler narrowly lost to the New Zealand boat. They fell just 0.42 seconds short of becoming the first German women's quartet to win gold in this event since 2008 in Beijing.

Germany had previously won silver in the kayak four in 2012 in London and 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. The team was ecstatic, having led the race at one point. However, the strong New Zealanders fought back and overtook them. Hungary took bronze.

Earlier, Peter Kretschmer and Tim Hecker missed out on a medal in the men's canoe double. The Leipzig and Berlin duo finished fifth. China won the gold medal.

The success in Paris added another silver medal to Germany's collection in the Olympic Games, making it their third consecutive silver in the kayak four event. Despite their commendable performance, the German women's team hopes to break their silver streak and claim gold in future Olympic Games.
