Woman rents excavator and sells it on
A woman is said to have rented five small excavators in various locations in Hesse and then sold them on. The Central Hesse Police Headquarters estimates the damage at 100,000 euros. The 60-year-old woman was arrested in Giessen a week ago, as the police announced on Tuesday. She had been wanted on a warrant for escape and repeat offense.
According to the police, the excavators were sold in Germany and abroad. Investigators from the Giessen criminal investigation department have since recovered two excavators and returned them to their owners. The search for the other three excavators is still ongoing. The woman had always changed her place of residence - as the police suspect, she wanted to evade prosecution.
The woman's criminal activities extended beyond Hesse, as she allegedly sold the stolen excavators in Central Hessa and other parts of Germany. The Central Hessa Police are urgently seeking to recover the remaining three excavators, which were reportedly sold abroad due to the woman's evasive tactics.
