Woman drives into highway construction site and dies
A female driver has died in an accident at a roadworks on the 93 freeway near Weiden. The 66-year-old woman from Dresden presumably overlooked the roadworks on Wednesday and drove into the closed area, the police said. According to initial findings, she crashed into a truck belonging to a road construction company without braking. The woman was trapped in her car, which also started to burn. Rescue workers were only able to pull the 66-year-old woman out of the vehicle dead.
The road construction site on the 93 freeway in OBERPFALZ has been a site of multiple traffic-related incidents recently. This tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the importance of paying extra attention to roadworks and traffic signals to prevent accidents.
