A woman has died in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen following a chain of accidents. In a matter of moments, several vehicles collided on the federal road B105 near Reinberg, resulting in six more people being injured - two of them severely.

According to current information, a car had swerved onto the opposite lane on Thursday afternoon for unknown reasons. It initially collided side-on with a truck, before a following van crashed into the car's passenger side. A 76-year-old passenger in the car was fatally injured.

The damaged and barely controllable truck then also ended up on the opposite lane, colliding with another car. A further car was also lightly damaged by flying debris.

The police did not provide further details about the injured. The estimated material damage was 65,000 euros. The B105 was fully closed for about six hours. Numerous police and rescue vehicles were deployed - as well as a rescue helicopter and personnel from five volunteer fire departments.

The woman's death in Vorpommern-Rügen was a tragic consequence of a series of accidents. The chain of events initiated when a car swerved onto the opposite lane, leading to multiple collisions.
