- Wolfsburg defender Lacroix shifts his base to England
As predicted, Crystal Palace, an English Premier League team, has sealed the deal for French defender Maxence Lacroix from VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. The 24-year-old will be rejoicing in seeing his old coach, Oliver Glasner, who helms Crystal Palace now and was eager to recruit a replacement for Joachim Andersen, the Danish international, who's now with FC Fulham. According to sources, the transfer could fetch Wolfsburg roughly €20 million, including incentives.
As Maxence's contract was set to expire in June 2023, VfL Wolfsburg's sporting director, Peter Christiansen, mentioned, "The circumstances weren't favorable." Following talks with all concerned parties, Christiansen voiced gratitude, and they managed to work out an appealing offer, ultimately granting Lacroix his dream of playing in the Premier League. Later on, the same day, Wolfsburg signed Denis Vavro, a Slovakia international, from Christiansen's previous team, FC Copenhagen.
Lacroix's dream of playing in a new league will see him don the colors of Crystal Palace, a renowned club based in France's neighboring country, England. This transfer marks the third time a coach from Wolfsburg has taken a French player to a new club, mirroring Oliver Glasner's move with Renato Sanches to Lille and Niklas Sule to Bayern Munich.
