VfL Wolfsburg has signed top talent Mathys Angely from Girondins Bordeaux. Angely has received a long-term contract, as announced by Wolfsburg. The exact duration of the contract was not specified.

Wolfsburg's coach Ralph Hasenhüttl has planned Angely for the professional team. "Mathys is a player who is flexible in defense. He feels comfortable in defensive midfield as well as in all defensive positions," said VfL sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz. "We are very pleased to have been able to secure Mathys despite strong competition." Girondins Bordeaux had to accept relegation from the second to the fourth French league at the beginning of August. As a result of losing the professional license, all existing professional contracts were terminated - thus, no transfer fee was due for the fifth new signing of the summer for Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg's new signing, Mathys Angely, hails from France's Girondins Bordeaux. Due to Girondins' relegation and loss of their professional license, Angely became available without a transfer fee for Wolfsburg, which is located in Germany.
