Wolfsburg coach Kovac after 0:4: "Don't sugarcoat anything"

Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac clearly criticized his team after the 4-0 defeat at Borussia Mönchengladbach. "If you make so many mistakes, you won't win a game in the Bundesliga. That's why we deserved to lose," said the 52-year-old. "We don't have to sugarcoat anything."

Lower Saxony have picked up just one point from their last five league games. "I don't think it's primarily down to tactical things," said Kovac on the current crisis. "Gladbach scored the goals, but we set them up."

Although his team were already 2-0 down at half-time, the coach said he did not get loud in the dressing room. "There's no need for someone like me to hit them with a steam hammer," said Kovac, who also sees the upcoming international break as an opportunity. "Maybe it's not such a bad thing if one or two of them get away for a while and take their mind off things with the national team," he said.

Despite the loss, Borussia Mönchengladbach continued their strong form in the Bundesliga, maintaining their position near the top of the table. Meanwhile, VfL Wolfsburg's poor run in the league continued, with Borussia Mönchengladbach's goals being a result of their own mistakes.
