Wolfsburg beats Werder: 47th win in a row in the DFB Cup
VfL Wolfsburg's women's soccer team have extended their impressive winning streak in the DFB Cup. The 5:0 (3:0) victory over Werder Bremen in the round of 16 was their 47th consecutive win in this competition over the course of the season. Wolfsburg have won the DFB Cup nine times in a row since 2015. They last lost a cup match in November 2013 against 1. FFC Frankfurt.
On Friday evening, Alexandra Popp (4th and 25th minute), Ewa Pajor (35th), Vivien Endemann (63rd) and Jule Brand (84th) scored twice for VfL. 2738 spectators watched a one-sided northern duel. Wolfsburg's two main rivals Bayern Munich (at Kickers Offenbach) and Eintracht Frankfurt (against SC Freiburg) will not play their round of 16 matches until January.
The victory over Werder Bremen in the DFB Cup further reinforces VfL Wolfsburg's dominance in women's soccer, extending their winning streak to 47 matches.
