Financial strategy - Woidke urges reduced energy costs to boost the economy.

The Minister President of Brandenburg, Dietmar Woidke (SPD), believes that lower electricity prices for businesses are crucial. Speaking at the Ostdeutsche Wirtschaftsforum in Bad Saarow, he emphasized the need for stable and improved conditions, particularly in the energy sector, for companies in the country. Woidke stated that soaring energy costs are hindering investment decisions by businesses in Germany. He called for clear answers that will benefit the economy and speed up the development of renewable energy. Almost all medium-sized businesses aspire to be climate-neutral, and thus, it is crucial to expand renewable energy even more rapidly.

Woidke highlighted the need for assistance for states with high renewable energy production, such as Brandenburg, as there is a classic disincentive. He mentioned that Schleswig-Holstein and Brandenburg have the highest energy prices in Germany due to their fast-paced renewable energy expansion. "This can't continue," he asserted.

In addition, Woidke advocated for less bureaucracy and speedier approvals. He urged for "faster" processes and the removal of unnecessary administrative hurdles. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) expressed his intention to push for the acceleration of construction projects, including the expansion of renewable energy, with vigor during a speech on Sunday in Bad Saarow.

The three-day conference features representatives from economic associations, companies, politicians, and scientists, discussing the impacts of the structural shift in East Germany's economic landscape. The meeting occurs during a period of persistent economic struggles and uncertainties for companies.
