Woidke honors documentary filmmaker Junge on her 80th birthday
With the documentary "The Children of Golzow", she and her husband have created a unique contemporary document about life in the GDR: Documentary filmmaker Barbara Junge celebrates her 80th birthday next Tuesday (14.11.). Brandenburg's Minister President Dietmar Woidke (SPD) paid tribute to her work on the occasion of the anniversary.
"Rarely is such a place, and above all its people, given such careful and attentive attention," the head of government said in his congratulatory letter. According to Woidke, the long-term documentary is a unique testimony to life that provides a deep insight into the history of the GDR, the time of reunification and the development of the Oderbruch.
The award-winning documentary "The Children of Golzow" follows 18 people over 46 years. It ended in 2008 after more than 40 hours of filming. This unique chronicle not only made it into the Guinness Book of Records, but also became the life's work of Barbara and her husband, director Winfried Junge.
The Golzow project continues to reach new generations of viewers, said Winfried Junge in a dpa interview two years ago. "Older people compare their lives with what they have seen, younger people discover it as information about the time in their parents' and grandparents' lives," said the filmmaker.
The documentary "The Children of Golzow" not only showcases the History of the GDR but also provides a fascinating insight into the lives of Movie's characters, reflecting the experiences of different generations of people. Barbara Junge's work, celebrated on her 80th birthday, continues to resonate with new audiences, fostering intergenerational connections and reflections.
