Wohlgemuth confirms VfB's interest in retaining Nübel
VfB Stuttgart have confirmed their interest in continuing to plan with goalkeeper Alexander Nübel beyond the current Bundesliga season. "When it comes to Alex's future at VfB Stuttgart, there are several parties at the table. It is obvious that we will leave no stone unturned," said sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth to the "Bild" newspaper (Thursday). Nübel is currently on loan from FC Bayern Munich for one year.
After international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer extended his contract there beyond this season, a return of Nübel to the record champions seems almost out of the question. The 27-year-old has repeatedly stated that he will no longer sit on the bench at FCB. Nübel's contract in Munich runs until June 30, 2025.
A further loan to Stuttgart would therefore only be an option if he were to extend it by at least one year. Bayern could then also receive a transfer fee in 2025 in the event of a permanent transfer. For VfB, a permanent signing of Nübel would be difficult to finance with an estimated transfer fee of up to ten million euros.
Despite Bayern Munich's international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer extending his contract, VfB Stuttgart expresses continued interest in Bundesliga goalkeeper Alexander Nübel for future seasons. Should Nübel consider a loan extension to Stuttgart, a potential transfer fee could be negotiated in 2025, given his contract with Bayern runs until 2025.
