- With a kilo of cocaine by release
Due to Drug Trafficking, the Traunstein Regional Court has sentenced a previously convicted man from Freilassing to seven years and three months in prison. The 36-year-old is alleged to have engaged in large-scale drug trafficking from December 2020 to the end of March 2021, as announced by the Regional Court together with the Public Prosecutor's Office.
He is said to have traded in ten cases, partly with cocaine and partly with cannabis, smuggling drugs across the border in two of these cases. In total, it is said to have involved 1.9 kilograms of cocaine and around 18 kilograms of marijuana.
The verdict of July 24th is not yet final, as the defendant has lodged an appeal.
Cocaine and Pen from Lawyer's Office in Rucksack
The man was apprehended by investigators when he was reportedly riding a bicycle with a kilogram of cocaine in his backpack at the end of March 2021. When two customs officers of the Traunstein control unit wanted to check the man, he fled.
He is said to have thrown the backpack onto a garage roof in the city area of Freilassing. The two customs officers found seven packages of cocaine with a very high purity of over 90 percent in it - and a pen with the name of a law firm that had defended the man in an earlier criminal case. A DNA trace was found on the shoulder straps of the backpack, which was attributed to him.
In addition to the prison sentence of seven years and three months, the court ordered the confiscation of assets in the amount of 154,500 euros, based on a minimum selling price of 65 euros per gram of cocaine and 6 euros per gram of marijuana.
The evidence against the man included ten cases of drug trafficking, some involving cocaine and others involving cannabis. During his arrest, a kilogram of cocaine was found in his backpack.
