Winter chaos: Munich Airport resumes operations - train services still restricted

Heavy snowfall paralyzed parts of southern Germany on Saturday. The south of Bavaria, including the state capital Munich, was particularly badly affected. Among other things, the main railway station was closed there.

No long-distance trains to and from Munich Central Station and no trains on the Munich - Nuremberg and Munich - Stuttgart routes will be running until at least 10.00 a.m., as Deutsche Bahn announced on its website. Train connections from Munich to Salzburg, Innsbruck and Lindau/Zurich as well as between Stuttgart and Singen/Zurich are expected to be canceled throughout Sunday.

Deutsche Bahn recommended postponing trips to and from Munich planned for Sunday. In addition, there could also be "weather-related train cancellations and delays" in other parts of southern Germany. Due to the extent of the damage, train cancellations and delays are also to be expected on Monday.
