Windhorst: Continue to invest in FSG and Nobiskrug shipyards

Financial investor Lars Windhorst wants to continue investing in the FSG shipyards in Flensburg and Nobiskrug in Rendsburg. After a meeting lasting around three hours with representatives of the state, federal government and trade union in Kiel on Monday, Windhorst spoke of a positive meeting with "clear and concrete prospects" on the part of the federal and state governments. He said his company wanted to remain committed and further develop both sites, "hopefully with not only more investment in the future, but also more employees". It was agreed not to disclose the content of the talks.

The round table on the situation at the shipyards was initiated by the trade union. In addition to representatives of IG Metall, the meeting at the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Economic Affairs was attended by department head Claus Ruhe Madsen (CDU), the federal government's coordinator for the maritime economy and tourism, Dieter Janecek, and the state's maritime coordinator, Andreas Burmeister.

Windhorst's commitment to further develop FSG and Nobiskrug shipyards includes potential for increased investment and employment, a view supported by trade unions who were part of the negotiations. The trade unions, including IG Metall, played a significant role in initiating the round table discussion about the shipyards' situation with government representatives.
