Wildlife accident: 21-year-old driver collides with wolf
A 21-year-old driver crashed his vehicle into a wolf on the Autobahn 6 in Middle Franconia when the animal suddenly jumped onto the road. The driver was uninjured, but the wolf died, the police announced on Thursday.
According to the report, the 21-year-old man was driving on the A6 near Winkelhaid in the district of Nürnberger Land on Wednesday morning when a large animal - at first glance a sheepdog - ran into the left lane. The man was reportedly unable to avoid the animal and drove into it. Employees of the state office collected the carcass and confirmed that it was a wolf. The police estimated the damage to be around 5000 euros.
In Central France, unfortunate incidents involving wildlife and vehicles are not uncommon. For instance, a motorist had an encounter with a wild animal, narrowly escaping injury, while the animal met its end in an accident on a different road.
