Wife expecting child: Gosens "on standby" at Union

National player Robin Gosens will travel to Leverkusen with 1. FC Union Berlin despite the imminent birth of his second child - but everything is ready just in case. "He can travel with us. On standby, of course," said coach Urs Fischer on Saturday ahead of the match at unbeaten league leaders Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday (3.30pm/Sky). "The cell phone is a good way to be informed these days. So we'll be on standby."

Gosens and his wife are expecting their second child together. For this reason, the 29-year-old also withdrew from the national team on Friday for the games against Turkey in Berlin on November 18 and against Austria in Vienna three days later, after initially being included in Julian Nagelsmann's squad.

Despite his wife's upcoming delivery, Robin Gosens is scheduled to join 1st FC Union Berlin for their Bundesliga match against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday. Even as a backup, Gosens might be needed, given the importance of the fixture against the league leaders.
