Less than a quarter of a year to go until it's "Ozapft is" again in Munich. Preparations for the Oktoberfest have long been in full swing - and this is now also visible on the festival grounds.

Tree machines roll, trucks transport containers: Approximately two and a half months before the start of the Munich Oktoberfest, construction work begins on a Monday. The festival grounds become a construction site, entry is prohibited for safety reasons. However, there are still possibilities to cross the grounds. The Oktoberfest is celebrated from September 21 to October 6, considered the largest folk festival in the world.

Construction work begins earlier this year than usual. The hosts have an additional week of time - they had complained that the time was no longer sufficient, that the work was becoming increasingly complex.

It is still unclear what the beer will cost - one of the central questions for the people of Munich. The city of Munich will announce the prices in the middle of the week. It is already apparent that the price for a liter of beer will likely exceed the 15 Euro mark in at least some tents. The highest price was 14.90 Euro last year. In many tents, a liter of beer cost 14.50 Euro, with an average price of 14.18 Euro.

Procedure for beer prices: Hosts and breweries submit their planned beverage prices - including for Limonade and mineral water. The city only checks if the proposals are reasonable. Mineral water cost more than ten Euros in many places in 2023. For the first time in 2023, there were ten free water fountains. There will be twice as many as in the previous year.
