- Wiesmoor introduces its latest Floral Monarch
At the Blooming Celebration in Wiesmoor, East Frisia, Meike Deharde was named Blooming Queen by the crowd. This 24-year-old Wiesmoor resident received her title on the outdoor stage of the small town in the Aurich district. Joey Melina Folkerts, 20, and Antje Kopietz, 21, both from Großefehn in the Aurich district, were chosen as princesses. The trio now forms the new Wiesmoor Blooming Royal Court, with no other applicants making the cut.
The Blooming Queen represents Wiesmoor's flower town at events across the nation. The election of the royal court has been open to men and diverse individuals along with women since last year.
Post the coronation, held under sunny skies, there was a parade featuring decorated themed wagons that traversed the town. The royal court rode on the final wagon, interacting with the spectators. The 72nd Blooming Festival's theme was Circus.
The Blooming Festival in Wiesmoor is among the largest in Northern Germany, as per the organizers. For this town, which houses numerous horticultural businesses, it's a significant event, organized by numerous volunteers.
