Award - Werner Burkhardt Music Prize 2024 goes to Manachère
Jazz flutist Clémence Manachère has been awarded the Werner Burkhardt Music Prize 2024, endowed with 7500 euros. "In her innovative, complex compositions and her clear playing style on the flute and soprano saxophone, Clémence Manachère creates worlds of sound that are as powerful as they are finely structured," the jury said in its statement. The Hamburgische Kulturstiftung awards the prize to outstanding young Hamburg jazz musicians up to the age of 40, the foundation announced in Hamburg on Tuesday. The prize will be presented on January 25 at the JazzHall. The prizewinner will perform with her Unterwasser Electric Band.
