Werder happy for Ducksch: "Stands for special moments"
After Marvin Ducksch's first national team call-up, his club Werder Bremen is also very proud of the 29-year-old striker. "Marvin Ducksch stands for special moments. He's still a bit of a street footballer," said Werder coach Ole Werner on Friday at the press conference for the Bundesliga home game against Eintracht Frankfurt (Sunday, 5.30pm/DAZN).
"He simply has a nose and sometimes does things that involve a lot of risk and that not everyone on the pitch would play like that. When Marvin sees something on the pitch, he has the confidence and also the craziness to do it - no matter how others might judge it."
At the age of 29, Ducksch has been called up to the German national team for the first time for the two international matches against Turkey and Austria. His former strike partner Niclas Füllkrug, who moved from Werder to Borussia Dortmund in the summer, is also playing there. "Maybe the two of them will play together in the national jersey," said Bremen's head of professional soccer Clemens Fritz.
"When you see Marvin's style of play, he has something special, an instinct. He has a fine foot and great finishing qualities. Of course that's registered."
Marvin Ducksch's impressive form in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen has earned him a spot in the German national team, allowing him to potentially play alongside his former strike partner Niclas Füllkrug. Despite his age, Ducksch's unorthodox playstyle, characterized by his bold risk-taking and unique instincts, has garnered attention in the Bundesliga, showcasing his abilities on the soccer field.
