Bundesliga - Werder Bremen extends contract with Romano Schmid
Werder Bremen have extended the contract with midfielder Romano Schmid ahead of schedule. This was announced by the Bundesliga club on Wednesday evening. As usual, the Green-Whites did not disclose the term of the contract. The 23-year-old Austrian has been playing for the North Germans since the summer of 2020 and has since developed into an absolute regular.
"Romano has developed very well with us in recent years. He celebrated his debut as a senior Austrian international during his time at Werder and we are convinced that he has not yet reached the end of his development," said Bremen's head of soccer Clemens Fritz.
Schmid joined Werder from RB Salzburg in January 2019, but was then loaned directly to Wolfsberger AC in his home country. He only came to the Weser in the summer of 2020 and has since played 103 competitive matches for Bremen.
