Work - Welcome Center Schleswig-Holstein begins its work

The Schleswig-Holstein Welcome Center to support foreign skilled workers and employees is starting its work. The CDU and Greens had agreed on the project in their coalition agreement following last year's state elections. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the background to this is the expected increasing shortage of qualified workers in the coming years.

The state will spend around 2.6 million euros per year on the Welcome Center under the umbrella of the economic development agency in Kiel. The employees are to cooperate closely with the Federal Employment Agency and the State Office for Immigration and Refugees. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, it hopes to improve the visibility and attractiveness of Schleswig-Holstein on the international labor market. Immigrant workers and their families should want to live and work permanently in the northernmost federal state.
