Energy - Weil calls for revision of the heating law
Lower Saxony's Minister President Stephan Weil has spoken out in favor of revising the heating law. "There are many people in our society, for example prime ministers, who are wealthy enough and do not need state subsidies for their new heating system," the SPD politician told the newspaper "Welt" (online/print: Tuesday). Using the freed-up money for those households "who really have reason to worry would further ease the debate on the heating transition".
In view of the tight budget situation,Weil warned that the funding for replacing heating systems should not fall victim to the need to save money. "Without a funding concept, it will not be possible to implement the heating transition, because otherwise it would overburden far too many people," emphasized Weil. It is therefore absolutely essential that this part of the resolutions is confirmed even after the ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court on the Climate and Transformation Fund.
The first regulations of the Heating Act are to take effect in the new year. From January, only heating systems based on 65% renewable energy may be installed in new buildings within new development areas. In many cases, this is likely to be a heat pump.
