3rd soccer league - Wehen Wiesbaden cancels training camp in South Africa

A plane malfunction brought third-league football team SV Wehen Wiesbaden's planned training camp in South Africa to a halt. The Hessen airline pilot had to return to Frankfurt am Main in the early hours of Sunday due to engine problems. The club ultimately cancelled the trip to the Cape of Good Hope.

Due to the group size and short notice, it was not possible to find alternative flights, the SVWW announced. "We are very disappointed that the training camp, which had been prepared for many months, cannot take place," said business manager Nico Schäfer. The club will now examine potential damage claims.

The second-league relegated team had planned to play two test matches against Cape Town City FC and Stellenbosch FC in South Africa, which will no longer take place. According to Schäfer, the already dispatched project team will at least take care of implementing the planned social projects.

  1. The news of the cancelled training camp in South Africa brought a sense of 'woe' among the players and staff of SV Wehen Wiesbaden.
  2. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, the 3rd league team is still determined to make the most of their time in Hesse and will focus on local 'soccer' training.
  3. The plane malfunction not only impacted the team's training camp but also forced the cancellation of their scheduled matches against Cape Town City FC and Stellenbosch FC in South Africa.
  4. Woe to the club, as they now face the challenge of seeking potential damage claims from the Hessen airline involved in the incident.
  5. Although the training camp in the 'Cape of Good Hope' was cancelled, the already dispatched project team will ensure that the planned social projects in South Africa will still be carried out.
  6. SV Wehen Wiesbaden, based in Wiesbaden, Germany, had high hopes for their South African training camp, which was a significant part of their 3rd league preparations.
