Weather - Weather service warns of slippery roads - fresh snow expected
The German Weather Service has warned of slippery roads on Monday. On Monday morning, snowfall is expected in North Rhine-Westphalia, coming from the west and reaching the north-east by the afternoon, the DWD reported online. In the lowlands, one to three centimetres of fresh snow may fall, while in the Bergisches Land and Siegerland regions, up to ten centimetres may fall during the course of the day. Stormy gusts are also possible in the mountains.
In the evening, the snow is expected to change to rain in the lowlands. Particularly in the south, black ice may then form on the still cold ground. In the mountains, too, icy conditions are possible locally due to freezing rain, according to the DWD.
In the west of NRW, temperatures of up to plus five degrees are possible during the course of the day, while in the east it may remain frosty in some places at minus one degree. On Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures of up to plus six degrees are expected in the lowlands.
