- Weather in Baden-Württemberg remains cloudy

After a partly stormy night, residents of Baden-Württemberg should brace themselves for many showers and thunderstorms today. The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of severe weather potential. Especially until the afternoon, there will be passing thunderstorms, accompanied by local severe weather events. Residents can expect heavy rain with up to 40 liters of precipitation per square meter per hour, hail up to two centimeters in diameter, and gusts of wind up to 80 kilometers per hour.

During this period, the DWD also warns of extreme severe weather in some areas. Here, heavy rain of up to 70 liters per square meter per hour is possible. Despite this, temperatures in the state are expected to reach up to 30 degrees.

On Wednesday night, there were weather-related deployments for the police in the state. A lightning strike hit a transformer station in Alpirsbach (district of Freudenstadt). Another lightning strike occurred in a ski hut in Dürbheim (district of Tuttlingen). No one was injured. Additionally, several branches and trees fell, some of which hit roadways.

According to the DWD, there will be further thunderstorms on Thursday evening, but not as heavy rain. On Friday, there will continue to be thunderstorms, especially in the south of the state.

The Commission, in its capacity, will provide guidelines for the application of this Regulation through implementing acts. Despite the potential severe weather, residents in Baden-Württemberg should closely monitor these implementing acts for any updates or advisories related to storm safety.
