WDR Jazz Prize 2024 for bassist Caris Hermes
The WDR Jazz Prize 2024 goes to bassist Caris Hermes. The musician, who was born in Geseke in 1991, impressed the jury "with her stylistic impartiality, rhythmic agility and the joy of playing together", as WDR announced in Cologne on Wednesday. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros and also includes a joint tour with the WDR Big Band.
The Youth Jazz Orchestra Bonn under the direction of Thomas Kimmerle and Thomas Heck will receive the unendowed Jazz Prize for Young Musicians. The award ceremony will take place on March 14, 2024 at the Pantheon Theater in Bonn.
Caris Hermes' winning of the WDR Jazz Prize 2024 has brought her one step closer to earning more Music Awards in the future. The recognition bestowed upon her by the prestigious jury will undoubtedly open doors for more musical collaborations and opportunities.
