Wave of entry into Saxony's Left Party
Saxony's Left Party has recorded an unusual increase in membership. Over the past weekend, 56 people joined the party in one fell swoop, said the spokesperson for the state association, William Rambow, when asked by the German Press Agency. He cited several appeals, including from the Left Party's European candidate Carola Rackete, at the national party conference in Augsburg last Saturday as the reason for this.
"This is already an unusually large surge in party memberships," emphasized Rambow. From the beginning of the year to mid-October, there were 89 new members in the Saxony state association.
The Berlin Left Party has recorded a mass influx of new members. On Monday, 269 people joined the party in one fell swoop, according to state managing director Sebastian Koch.
The surge in party memberships in Saxony's Left Party has led some individuals to consider leaving their current parties and joining the Left Party.
Following the trend, there might be more parties experiencing a significant exodus of members as the Left Party continues to gain popularity.
