Football: The Beautiful Game - Watzke declares a transfer drive at Borussia Dortmund.

Hans-Joachim Watzke, a business manager, has shared that Borussia Dortmund will be launching a "transfer offensive" during the upcoming transfer period. The 64-year-old stated in an interview with "Bild" that the club wouldn't be spending more money on transfers than they're receiving. "We're not in a position to invest 100 million euros net, but we will be putting more funds into new players than we'll receive via sales. That's new for Borussia Dortmund," explained Watzke.

Interestingly, he clarified that Dortmund won't be spending 100 million euros on a single player, similar to how record champions Bayern Munich bought England's top forward, Harry Kane. "No way," said Watzke. In order to afford this, the club has to make up to 750-800 million euros in sales. He did not reveal his prediction on the current business year's turnover, considering that the club went public.

Borussia Dortmund is expected to earn a lot from their successes in the ongoing Champions League. There's a potential to make between 100-200 million euros, considering the prize money if they manage to make it to the Club World Cup in the USA the following year, given they're one of twelve European teams participating.

Holding the record as the only stock exchange-listed German club, Borussia Dortmund has already increased their earnings forecast for the current season. Following their progress in the semi-finals and the final on Saturday (9 p.m./ZDF and DAZN), BVB stated an expected annual surplus of around 40-50 million euros. They had initially anticipated a profit of 15-25 million euros before the season commenced.
