The girl is said to have left her home in an unobserved moment on Sunday afternoon. Searches by a large contingent of firefighters, technical relief organizations, rescue services, the Red Cross and police were unsuccessful despite the use of divers, sniffer dogs and drones.

The police continued their efforts in the search on Monday, returning to the waters of Bingen. Despite the resumed search, the two-year-old girl remained missing. The local community rallied together, with many residents volunteering to help in the search operations. On Sunday, the police had initially been informed about the missing child. After the initial search, the waters of Bingen were left undisturbed for the night, only to be searched again the following day. In Ravensburg, similar searches were conducted in the past due to missing persons cases, with mixed results. The police announced that they would continue their search operations until the child is found. To ensure no detail was overlooked, the search expanded to include the nearby farms and woodlands.
