Due to the cleanup of flood damage in Bruchsal, the water supply in the districts of Heidelsheim and Helmsheim is at risk. The city of Bruchsal has called on citizens to significantly reduce water consumption. "To prevent the water supply from collapsing," it says in a press release. Residents in the two districts have been asked not to use water during cleanup operations and not to fill bathtubs or other containers like buckets with water. "Water can still be used for household consumption."

After the severe storm, the fire department in the city is in full operation. "Firefighters will be busy all day pumping out basements, cellars, and underground garages," said Edgar Geißler, spokesperson for the Karlsruhe district fire department. While the water has largely receded, there is still mud in many homes and on streets. In addition, a lot of branches and bushes that were washed up by the floodwaters still need to be cleared from along the roads.

Despite the ongoing efforts to clear flood damage, residents in Heidelsheim and Helmsheim should be aware of potential risks to their water supply. To minimize the impact of flood damage on the water supply, it is essential to heed the city's advice and limit water usage during clean-up operations.
