Police - Water police patrol boat "Seestern" christened

The water police in Kiel christened their new patrol boat "Seestern" on Thursday. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the name is the result of a public consultation. The majority of participants voted for a name related to sea creatures. Further new patrol boats are to follow. "The new type of boat can be used in coastal waters, in coastal waters and in ports and inland waterways and is exceptionally user-friendly," said State Secretary of the Interior Magdalena Finke. "Above all, because attention was paid to good handling characteristics and suitability for use in almost all weather and wave conditions."

The new standard patrol boat could be used to replace the outdated patrol boats. In Schleswig-Holstein, internal security also means maritime security. The North Sea and Baltic Sea, islands and Halligen, harbors and inland waterways are unique areas with sensitive infrastructures.
